Looks like I should'a read the darn page before posting the detour. I did see the screw face plate but somehow got stuck on the other one.
No harm done - Now we have two parts (98757 and 98004) to look at.
It'll help us spend more of our tool dollars to help the economy.
That makes more sense. The screw itself is likely RH, so it shouldn't be used in reverse, I think; OK for the faceplate alone. I'm just a little surprised that HF has such a specialized accessory. Combining RH and LH threads (in effect, deliberately cross-threading) seems like quite an adventure. I have some RH and LH taps in a same series (not 1x8), so I'm tempted to give it a try. Maybe a real machinist will chime in before I commit a sin.
'Nother old guy who grew up with the L/R Delta faceplate. Used both in and outboard, but now there are alternatives for the old type lathes even in chucks.
