Thanks George, I'm not sure what happened I just copied the link and pasted it. Computers don't like me and the feeling is mutual.

Where'd you get the notion it's left-hand thread? It's the standard faceplate for HF34706 (aka MC900, etc.), RH thread 1x8.

Sorry I screwed it up though...
Looks like I should'a read the darn page before posting the detour. I did see the screw face plate but somehow got stuck on the other one.
No harm done - Now we have two parts (98757 and 98004) to look at.
It'll help us spend more of our tool dollars to help the economy.

That makes more sense. The screw itself is likely RH, so it shouldn't be used in reverse, I think; OK for the faceplate alone. I'm just a little surprised that HF has such a specialized accessory. Combining RH and LH threads (in effect, deliberately cross-threading) seems like quite an adventure. I have some RH and LH taps in a same series (not 1x8), so I'm tempted to give it a try. Maybe a real machinist will chime in before I commit a sin.

I have used the old Delta faceplates that were cross threaded. They look might strange seeing an X pattern thread inside but they work fine.
