2108 Spalted Hackberry.

Origin for this bowl is Missouri. Original block was 26% MC, and after roughing, this bowl took a total of ten months to stabilize. 6 3/8" x 2 3/4", 6.9 oz. Sanded and finished by my usual methods. I've turned quite a few spalted hackberry bowls, and I consider this one to be the best of the best! Thank you Mother Nature!

Odie, I've turned a fair amount of spalted hackberry. None of mine had as nice a spalting pattern as this. Most of mine had the dark streaks but the lighter tone wood was muddy.

Much darker hackberry than I normally see. Caught the spalting just at the perfect time.
You got that right, Karl.......there probably a hundred spalts that will never pan out for every one that does!
Outstanding bowl Odie!
Thank, Russ..... :)

Randy.....I've never seen Hackberry in the wild, and by the comments I've gotten, I'm beginning to think I'm a very lucky guy to find this one!
