Apache design about 13.5x1.75, kiln dried maple. Two pieces of wood were glued together to get the final size. India Ink used for the color, 1/8" wood burning pen to burn the beads and a small skew for the rim. The actual basket was made sometime late 1800's or very early 1900's.
Steve, this is really beautiful work. Can you estimate about how long this project took? Just curious.

Hi Mark,
I have never kept close track and I get that question pretty often. I think I am a little faster than when I started but guessing on a 12-13 inch platter like this I must be in the 60-70 hour range. The turning part is actually the fastest part to do. Design and coloring is what takes a lot of time.
