This is my second entry for this years Big Island Woodturners Show. It is a piece of sugi that had some lovely spalting in it. Almost too much. There were some very soft areas that were tough to deal with, both in turning and finishing.

Piece is about 8 inches tall. The finish is several coats of buffed Waterlox.

I appreciate any comments, good bad or indifferent, that anyone cares to make.

Thanks!

Dave
Jerry,

Thanks for the comment! The show starts this coming Friday. And other than having visitors vote for their favorite piece they don't have any kind of judging. Though we do try to have a show critique afterwards to help all of us improve our work.

The show begins at 5pm on Friday, Feb 22, and runs through 3-26 if you can make it. It is at the Wailoa Art Center on the Bayfront in Hilo.
