2239 Claro Walnut Burl.

Original block was 16% MC, and after roughing followed by a seven-month seasoning period, it was second turned in December of 2023. Final size is 6 3/4" x 3 3/4", and weight is 8.6 oz. It sold in January of 2024 for $145 to a repeat customer, (with a 10% discount applied). Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Walnut is notorious for having visible fine scratches that are easily revealed by a close inspection under bright lights, just prior to applying the D.O. These fine scratches are quickly removed by hand random orbit sanding with the 600gt sheet sandpaper.
The proportion of the detail to the piece is spot on. Wonderful piece. Thanks for the description of the finishing.
