A Little Off

About 8" in diameter ... butternut ... finished with several coats of danish oil
So... I'm guessing you reversed the typical process and turned the inside first, then used some type of off-center jam chuck to turn the outside. I can't think of a way to do it the other way around - outside and then inside.

No, I turned the outside first. The approach is to drill two holes for the screw chuck, with the second hole offset from the center. Mounted with the screw chuck in the center hole, turn and sand the outside and make a central tenon. Flip to mount on the central tenon and trim and finish the face. Then mount with the screw chuck in the offset hole and turn an offset tenon. Flip to mount on the offset tenon and hollow the bowl. Flip to center on a jam chuck (I used a flat one abutted to the face) to remove the tenons and clean up the bottom.
