The other end of the stick of firewood which produced the glass of red. They're both about 8" tall, originating as they do from the same 20" stick of 3.5 inch firewood, less the loss from holding and parting.
My wife tolerates pauses in making wood so that I can turn pieces that interest me. Of course, this would have been for the winter of '06-'07, so there really isn't a great rush, save to beat the snow. Seven cords are cut, split and stacked, and we had some "thick rain" today.
