Dye job

A friend from Seattle, Matt Kramer brought me some spaulted maple on a resent visit. This piece needed something to bring out the character of the wood so I tried a dye job. It is a good grade of food coloring which gives a brilliant color.
When I first saw the thumbnail picture I thought it might be a blank from a bowling ball or something. The dye job combined with the great finish you put on it makes it a very interesting piece. Almost looks like polished stone. Should be a real hit around St Patty's day.
