Natural edge from Hurricane Sandy. 9" x 4-1/2".
3/8" thick. Wop finish. Not sure what type of wood. I thought it was elm but has a very slight sweet smell. Maybe locust? Any suggestions?

if bark is orange below the outer crust and heart wood is gold as it appears then could be sasafras(sp) i just turned 2 nat edge bowls of it and the smell is very faint - kind of a rootbeer smell.

My first thought was Black Locust. The course bark, color, and the look of the end grain. Hard for me to judge from pictures. Nice piece!
