Ignition Key

Woodturning has a practical side but this is one practical use I bet no one has ever tried. Recently, after returning home from my local woodturning club meeting, I was unable to shut off my old car. The ignition key-switch jammed in the run position. I had to disconnect the battery to shut off the engine! Later I dismantled the steering column and removed the switch but still was unable to free it. So I applied a woodturners solution. I copied the dimensions and turned a wooden key. It works great; better than the original.
That's funny! Very ingenious!

I once turned a maple "button" for the brake pedal light switch in our Honda Civic. The plastic one had broken and fallen out. So I just turned a maple replica. It's still in there and serving it's purpose a couple years later!
