Nice job getting the carved ribs voluptuous Hugie! I’m curious how it would look if the ribs tucked underneath the rim As opposed to the faceted rim. I do like the faceted rim as well.
 
There several reasons why I do it this way, firstly it adds to fluidity of the piece and it means you cant see both ends of the spiral at once you must pick it up in order to do so . This size fits neatly in your hand and so is easily rolled around with your fingers and so for you to enjoy the tactile nature of the finish and the piece, thirdly tucked under the rim adds to the difficulty complexity of the carving.
