Kiawe Box with Threads

Kiawe Box with Threads

I wanted to make a box with hand chased threads from a wood that is locally available. Kiawe or White Algarrobo is an invasive species introduced to Hawaii in the late-mid 1800's. The main use all over Hawaii is firewood and fencing. I have seen fences that are well over 100 years old and the Kiawe posts are still standing strong. I'm going over to the Big Island this Saturday to do my demo about boxes with threads. I wanted them to see what threads on Kiawe look like, and compared them to Palo Santo threads. I was able to cut very decent threads on the Kiawe. Let me know what you think.
