Myrtle bowl

Myrtle bowl

Wonderful grain patterns in this chunk of firewood!
Nice looking bowl John. I like the form and the finish is pleasing as well. I will say though, that looks more like blued pine than it does myrtle wood. I turn a lot of blued ponderosa pine and the color and grain is spot on.

May be; but it's from the Olympic mountain area. It didn't seem to have that pine smell or sap.

That's why I like ponderosa pine, it has no sap, turns beautifully and little to no pine smell. It also has a really beautiful bluing if it was infested with the pine beetles. Whether is pine or myrtle its a beautiful piece.
