This oak burl vessel is 7" high. I finished it with dead flat lacquer. I am really liking this finish for spalted wood. It brings out the spalting because of less glare. Also, it gives a consistent sheen to pieces like this which have extra character. I did use shellac as a sanding sealer, because I wanted a bit of amber to bring out the golden tones in the wood.
