Opening Blum

Cherry hollow form is carved to three petals. Originally tried Waterlox which did not work well so started over with Watco
I love the shape and the carved effect that created the overlapping petals. You should give three-point multi-axis turning a try. It creates three-sided spiraling shapes that lend themselves to carved organic shapes like your 'Opening Blum'. Here are some examples:

I like the idea. But really like a more rounded shape, whereas with three point turning it would have to be a very large diameter to give a rounded feel. I wonder if carved on the transition between side would do that?

Here's two examples where I cared the petals into the center section, resulting in a rounder opening. This may suggest some different approached. Keep creating these organic shapes, they are very nice. Enjoy!

I’m impressed with the shape, and I’ve been researching how to accomplish it.
