Pyinma and Blackwood

Figured Pyinma with Blackwood base and collar. 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". Finished with SAC and buffed.
I haven't been turning for very long, so please accept this question from someone trying to learn: this bowl has such a wonderful shape and grain, and looks great with the ebony collar; why did you add the base? Or, differently phrased, why the base without the finial? I like all of the pieces you have on your gallery, so I only trying to get into your 'design' head. Thanks, kurtb
