Skyline platter#2

Skyline platter#2

It's 12" diameter, 2" deep. This was turned, then I painted the night sky background with blue gesso, laser-etched the skyline pattern I designed, turned the center bowl, hand-painted the burned area with extra-black India Ink, sanded back the painted windows by hand. This is a re-envisioned piece from about 8 years ago. I have a few more variations in mind I hope to try soon. Purely a display piece, as that knot/hole in the upper left and many small worm holes were left natural and open. This photo is also before I put a few coats of spray lacquer on it, which helps the colors pop a bit.
