spalted red maple burl natural edge bowl

This piece was turned from my very favorite tree in the entire world! I passed it every day for many many years, until one day when it was being taken down because it was a danger to traffic passing underneath. The bowl is about 15" in diameter, and 10" tall
That is an exceptionally beautiful piece and you did the old tree proud.

Those two little animals in the bottom are keeping their eyes on things.

If I may ask, what is the finish?

Thanks Chuck! The finish is several coats of antique oil finish, rubbed back with 3M synthetic steel wool between each coat.

The best pieces are when the form and the natural beauty come together like this!
