To the Victor belongs the Burl

This is my latest effort and probably my worst title. I'll try to think of something better. My initial idea was for a much smaller piece, but as it developed, it kind of took on a life of its own. I really wanted to showcase the beautiful burl and this is what resulted. It has a definite Art Deco vibe, which was the idea all along. I think turning lends itself very well to Deco design influences and plan on doing more of it as time goes on.

This was difficult to photograph properly because all the dark wenge washed out the burl. I photoshopped it a little but it still needs some more work.

The piece is made of box elder burl (hollowed to about 1/8" wall thickness), wenge and brass pins.
It's 24"Hx10"Wx5"D.
