Twisted Cedar

Twisted Cedar

This 9-inch tall vase was turned from a small cedar log using a multi-axis method on the upper section to generate the twist. Cedar is one of those woods where the beauty truly 'lies within'. The contrast between the lighter colored sapwood and the inner red cedar provides some interesting visual patterns, especially as they interact with the graceful shapes generated by the upper twisted and carved section. Finish is Watco oil, buffed on the Beall system.
Brian, I also like to use cedar with an end grain approach. This is really great work.
