This six inch tall vase was turned using a three-point off-axis method to provide the twist. The segments of cherry, alder and birdseye maple were cut on a diagonal to match the desired twist. I was able to maintain the segment angles by gluing them into a single long plank and then cutting six vertical staves to form the body of the turning. Black veneer highlights the birdseye maple center section. The top ring is Padauk. Finish is Watco oil, buffed on the Beall system.
