Wave Bowl
Dick Koch

Wave Bowl

An Ambrosia Maple bowl with a protruding Walnut wave finished with gloss wipe-on poly. This piece was made after viewing one of John Beaver’s great demos on how to make a Wave Bowl, although I didn’t use a special jig as he recommends to make the cut for the wave.
Following John Beaver’s demo, I started out with a piece of wood that was roughly a cube and laid one flat side on the bandsaw table while cutting the piece in two along a curved line about two thirds of the way up the cube.

Guess my question was not clear. How did you cut the protruding wave to match the curve in the bowl? In the Beaver process the protruding wave is cut from the bowl using bandsaw jig to hold the bowl. Clearly not the case with your bowl because bowl wood not same as protruding wave wood. - John
