Yopo and ash vase
Lou Jacobs

Yopo and ash vase

9” x 9” segmented vase, finished with Danish oil and Waterlox. This is my third shot at segmented turning. Wood was sourced from a Brazilian mid-century modern sofa frame I was given by a neighbor. It was originally described as Brazilian rosewood, but turned out not to be.
Nice job repurposing that sofa frame Lou! Laminating that strip of Ash to the Yopo prior to cutting your segments yielded an interesting look; nice job on your alignment as well.

Thanks very much Russ! It was a fun project. I’m still learning. I didn’t get the ash strips absolutely uniform thickness. Next time…
