The finial features a pattern repeated 4X. It also features convex fluting (most regular woodturning flutes are concave).
The body features 60 cuts, 6 vertical rows of 10 cuts each. Each cut is offset 6 degrees from the one below it...
The top is turned eccentricly. The base was done on my rose engine. It appears to be a spiral. The effect is from seperate grooves cut as the work recriprocated on the spindle (in coordiation with the turning motion). As far as I know, this effect is only possible with a springloaded spindle.
