3520C On-Off Switch Problem

My 3520C arrived today on a crushed pallet. It was so bad the shipping company put it on another pallet and continued to deliver it. I have been in contact with the place of purchase and they are telling me that they are going to contact powermatic for a path forward.
But on a side note I was able to peek enough to see that the switch already has the dust cover on it from the factory.

My lathe had slid off the inner pallet breaking the cardboard box when it was delivered. It seemed to be ok but Powermatic seems to have a problem with their packaging, shipping company or both.

Same experience here. bottom pallet was completely crushed and they repalletized it with another one and kept on shipping it. I am hesitant to take delivery so I contacted my place of purchase and am on hold now until they can talk to powermatic. The outer cardboard was intact with 3 of the straps still in place but the weight of the lathe had fallen through the original pallet and broke it to pieces. I couldn't see any damage but I am Leary about the internals that can't be seen. wish we had better shipping companies.

This is an interesting discussion and I’ll store it away for future reference. I took delivery of my 3520 C about two weeks ago. I was very disappointed that it came on a rough shippers pallet but not fully enclosed. It had clearly suffered damage in transit. This included the on/off switch being broken to the point that the green button was gone. I dealt with the vendor who got Powermatic to replace the entire control head including the cable. I had a hell of a time figuring out how to disconnect the cable from the VFD drive end and replace with a new one. I finally got it done and the lathe is working fine. After having spent the past seven years on a lower end Grizzly lathe, I feel like I’ve moved from a Chevy to a Mercedes-Benz!
I wonder if anybody else has replaced this cable at the VFD end, or is it intended to be replaced only from the remote control box end?
How’s disappointing! The above quote is from my message in 2020. Same issue with horrible shipping. I almost figured that I was sent a floor model or demonstrator that was repackaged as I couldn’t imagine shipping a new lathe would be like that.

Yeah, takes all the joy out of owning it, and excitement out of receiving it.
I was assured it did not leave powermatic warehouse in this condition and that it is solely the responsibility of the "rough" shipper.
I cannot see any cosmetic problems and I want to unpack it further but right now I am on hold for decision from powermatic on weather they send a new machine out and take this one back. At some point in its journey it took a hard knock.

Called Powermatic yesterday (Friday 3/7/25) and asked the technician to send me the protective switch covers for both my lathes (PM3620C & PM2014). He verified my address, and said they would ship right away ... a few hours later, I got UPS advisory indicating they will be here Tuesday. Can't ask for better service than that ... the tech was terrific!

GR, I also found the techs at Powermatic to be very helpful.
