Hello, I'm Bill. I'm a 38 year old software engineer and hobby woodturner living in New Jersey. I recently joined my local chapter, NJ Woodturners.
I've been turning off and on since 2012, when I bought a Jet 1014 from the Woodcraft near my home in Baltimore. 2 years later I became a dad, and the sudden lack of free time put woodworking on the back burner for a while. I also moved to NJ for a new job in 2016, leaving behind my spacious garage workspace.
The year before last, I finally knocked down and rebuilt my dilapidated garage and started unpacking all my wood related stuff from the sad pile they'd ended up in in the basement.
And so now I'm back to turning. Here's a photo of a green walnut bowl I turned today, with the first ugly little thing I ever turned back in 2012 inside it. And a side profile of the bowl. Then there's a bunch of stoppers, openers, and walnut burl pens I turned as prizes for a local event. And finally me in front of the lathe and it's droppings, along with a bunch of half turned green bowls sealed to dry.
