I colored the inside of an oak bowl with black India ink and plan on using watco danish oil on the outside. Anyone used these two together? Am I going to get any kind of reaction between them?
Thanks
Thanks
If it bled through a crack from inside, I'd think you answered your own question right there? unless you can sand the insides of the crack to remove the ink, I'd think it's still gonna show obviously as a crack (but then crack would show after finish applied anyways?)Had some India ink bleed through a crack to the outside . Am I going to be able to sand most of that off easily or does it soak in deep?
That would be the rustic aged look. (didn't feel like going the turquoise/epoxy route this time.If it bled through a crack from inside, I'd think you answered your own question right there? unless you can sand the insides of the crack to remove the ink, I'd think it's still gonna show obviously as a crack (but then crack would show after finish applied anyways?)
There are different India inks. I like speedball which is shellac based and thus is highly compatible with other finishes. Low build so you see the grain well, dries fast, the color doesn't rub, etc.
If your ink was oil based there could be some bleeding, or incompatibility with water based, but I think chances of issues are low overall.
