Slow Speed Grinders w/ CBN wheels

Woodturners Wonders sells, or at least used to, sell them with or without CBN wheels installed. When I saw them at symposiums they were Rikon grinders with the unneeded guards and stock tool rests removed. This was when Ken Rizza owned the company. I don't know about the current owner.

Ages ago I bought my first slow-speed grinder from Woodcraft, the "No Name" model. I later bought a Rikon as a second grinder and used it with CBN wheels until I gave it to a friend. Both worked well.

I understand your request but it might even be less expensive to find a Rikon with traditional wheels and change them out to CBN. Having the aluminum oxide wheels as a spare can sometimes be of benefit when changing significantly the grind of a tool or making one’s own from HSS steel.

But here’s another place that sells w CBN attached. Bought my Rikon there. https://vmtw.com/vmtw-pair-of-8-inc...b48McseNBMbQuNabHLi9hp5iDHGmf7sRoCey4QAvD_BwE

While I don't own WTW any longer I am still involved and getting more and more involved again. I can set you up with a grinder and two CBN wheels. Call me directly at 770-856--6057 and I will give you symposium pricing. Thanks.- Ken

Not to change topics, but this is most certainly good news, Ken!! 🥳 I sincerely hope the situation there gets back on track. Best wishes for the business!

With this I now advise woodturners to purchase from WTW with confidence. With Ken's presence you can't go wrong. I wish I needed something myself but I think I have everything. (:))

(Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with WTW other than being a long-time satisfied customer)

Side note on WTW, the Slick Stick is the best stuff for the bottoms of your hand planes! I have tried a couple of different "waxes", and none are as easy to apply or work as well as the slick stick!

Latest update on my involvement with Wood Turners Wonders. The owner has asked me to retake the lead, and we are moving the entire operation back to my warehouse in Gainesville, GA. Got 12 pallets in today with more on the way. We are already shipping from here. Phones will be installed next week. We should be fully operational by Christmas. We will be answering phones, shipping orders, assembling - all of it just the way we did it when I owned the company. We are even bringing back some familiar faces. I will also be operating my new company, Power Carving Depot (powercarvingdepot.com), from the exact same location. My cell number again, if you have any issues, is 770-856-6057. Happy Thanksgiving.

Great news. I feel some orders comin on! I was afraid to order anything for bit.

As for CBN wheels, yes the "Mega Square" wide wheels with the square "corners" on the sides, not the limited purpose radiused edges. I also like wheels with 1" of grit down the flat side from the corner. I often use those corners and sides when making custom tools.

I am sorry it has come to this, but glad to have you back. Happy Thanksgiving.

Glad you're back as well, I'll be putting an order in soon as well.
a few years ago I bought the 1hp Rikon full set up with the mega wheels along with the Kodiak sharpening system, I can say to the OP of this thread that it all works as advertised and am very happy with my purchase.
