My choice for TOTW for April 27, 2026 is “Cherry blossoms on cherry” by @Ted Pelfrey.

This is the kind of piece that really needs to be held to fully appreciate. I really like how the perfect form of the vessel doesn’t seem to be interrupted visually by the deeply carved petals. I don’t think I would have the patience for this labor-intensive carving, but let’s hope that Ted continues to do so … so we can look forward to seeing future pieces like this. BTW, did everyone notice that little red ladybug near the foot? A nice surprise! Can’t tell if it is carved or painted on from the photo … or if there are more on the back that we can’t see. Well done, Ted!

Wow! Thanks Tom, what an honor. My wife doesn’t have much interest in my woodturning but as I showed the progress of this piece she said you know what would look good with that? Ladybugs. So I placed 3 on the piece ,carved into the pedals. I placed them towards the bottom to invite people to pick it up to look.

Will we see this one in Raleigh, Ted?
