I'm sure I am not the only one that gets excited when @Dave Roberts posts a new piece. Relatively recently, he has started to integrate rose engine patterns into his turnings. His latest hat, "Low Rider" is one example. I've seen a fair number of cowboy hats (and similar), and Dave's version are up there with the best. Adding a rose engine detail to the trim is something unique. No doubt it adds some complexity to the turning and order of operations; even more so, it adds a ton of interest and possibilities for exploration. In addition to the trim detail, he also included a rose engine detail on the underside of the hat (I saw the additional photos below on a different forum). Beyond the extra details, Dave's hat form, wood choice, and embellishment color are superlative. Well done!
