Okay....."preferences" is probably a better word to use here, as "rules" implies rigidity. I have my own preferences, and they are from time to time, flexible.

Ahhhh, preferences, AKA, the comfort zone!!
I’m curious as to why my comfort zone almost always grows to become more uncomfortable!
I find myself constantly searching for “peace of mind”; trying to jettison past, learned disabilities (maybe?). I suppose my segmenting/ woodturning is mimicking this journey as well!!
“Change/ answers is growth”……..right????
I will say, it is a very entertaining show to be a part of!!

Ugly is a legitimate design choice. Our insistence in pursuing “pretty” throws a lot of possibilities out of the window. Think about it. If something is ugly, you must incorporate other qualities to make a piece special. That means you as an artist must step up to the plate. “Pretty” is easy.
