Pair of Lidded Boxes

Pair of Lidded Boxes

Pair of lidded boxes from Walnut, Bubinga, and Curly Maple. Approximately 4 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" dia. I am a newbie turner (and photographer). Please let me know what you think.

I believe I thought too much about trying to get a nice lid fit, and shape the inside and not enough on the outside shape (which is what everyone sees). I think the lids are a bit clumsy, but that gives me something to improve on next time round.
They're both nice, but I think the left one is best. The accent lines are a good thing to help distract the eyes from a less than perfect fit in the lid joint.

The color balance is a bit off in your images, if you have a tungsten white balance setting in your camera that would take care of the yellowish tint.

Ken, thanks for the comments. The white balance seems really messed up on here. It didn't look quite as bad before I uploaded the image. That is definitely something I will focus on next time though. BTW, I really like the lidded boxes you make, particularly the accent wood right at the joint. I would like to learn how to do that.

Thanks,
Myron
