Maple Vase II

Maple Vase II

This is a second 5"x6" maple vase with the proportions changed for a different effect. Turned green, finished with one coat of lacquer.
Nice, George. You must be in the woods if you're turning these. Almost has to be fresh to keep the bark. Did you make a counterbore for a bit of lead in the bottom? One of the big problems for me is where my idea of light-looking overcomes the CG on the piece. Some sinkers and black epoxy will help.

Cherry's a good one for these as well.

Yup, in the woods. Cutting yellow birch for the hardwood floors. Going to do a handscraped plank flooring. Got 10+ cords of firewood and am rushing to get out the y birch before my skid trails break up and get muddy.
