This piece of Maple had so much going on I chose a simple form to show the wood. Measures 6-1/2" dia. x 7-3/4" tall. Finish is wipe on gel poly and beall buffed.
Maple HF, 4-1/2" dia. x 7-1/4" tall. Wall 1/8". Dyed with Artisan Dye and finished with Deft Spray Lacquer and Buffed. Interior is left natural. Dimpled rim with Dremal tool.

The platter was turned and the handles were carved from maple and walnut laminated stock then inserted.
I retained the rectangular handles shape to contrast with the round platter but I'm not sure if it was the right choice. It may have been better to...
As soon as I got the outside of this bowl shaped and stopped the lathe, I realized that what I had was Humpty Dumpty, as reassembled by a committee. Size is 18.5" x 8" deep. Sugar Maple burl with bark inclusions swirling throughout.
This hollow form/vase is made from a single piece of old growth Spalted Curly Ambrosia Maple and segmented with Walnut veneer.
It is 6 3/8 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
The finish is shellac and wax.
#69 Big Leaf Maple Burl with many Birdseye Fantsy faces. I turned this 1 twice after seeing more and nore.

Maple Platter Roughed out. 3 inches thick and 18 inches in diameter. Nice crotch coloring with a colorful bark inclusion running through the near side of the platter.
