#1957 Goncalo Alves.

#1957 Goncalo Alves.

This bowl had an initial MC of 18%, and after roughing, it took a total of 12 months to reach stabilization. Size is 11 3/8" x 1 3/4", and weight is 1 lb 10.6 oz. Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Goncalo Alves is a difficult species to turn without tearout, but can be done with a high degree of concentration (or, what I call "spiritual turning") combined with proper tool handling, and high degree of sharpness. Sold for $285 on 1-15-2024.

You sure work with some beautiful wood odie, fabulous piece

Thanks Peter......:)

As long as you're willing to pay the price for premium pieces of wood, they are available. Those who deal in great pieces of wood, know what they have, and charge extra $$$ for the best pieces.
