A Grief Observed

Spalted Mango heart on ebonized Black Cherry stand. 6.5"h x 6"w x 3.5"d. I made this piece for a swap on another forum. My swap partner suffered a tragedy recently, so I created this to represent the pain we feel when we lose a loved one. The name comes from C.S. Lewis' collection of reflections following the death of his wife.
As others have said, that's pretty accurate reflection of the feeling, though maybe the hole would be bigger for some of us.

All in favor of Michael doing a demo of making hearts, raise your hand. Motion carried.
