AAW March 2011 Contest

This piece was turned from Walnut. Several bleachings were necessary to dilute the natural resins in the wood to significantly accent that area giving the impression there are two separate sections. (i.e. Inner and outer.)
It is 6 diameter and 8 inches high and is decorated with 5 zippers outlining the unique carved side openings. It is finished with oil and wax.
