Camphor Wall-Hanging

  • -e-
Many people knew and enjoyed these local Camphor trees, and were upset when the trees were felled for construction. People have commented on several pieces already turned from the wood that they were surprised by the colors, grain and chatoyance.

This 20" diameter piece was designed to hang in a public space. It was turned as a simple portal into the tree
-e-, very nice piece. Showing the inner beauty of the wood is one of the things I like most about woodturning. I think this piece does perfectly. Have you sold many pieces to the people who knew and enjoyed these camphor trees?

hi paul;
yes, of the first batch of camphor pieces presented for sale, i've sold all but one. the hollow forms designed to capture the camphor fragrance went first...then those with colorful grain went next. several but not all were to locals who had a connection to the trees.

this piece has been on display for only a few days, yet already has several comments about the unexpected beauty of the wood. wonder why so many are surprised??
