Honey Locust Purpleheart Finial Box

The box is turned from a piece of iron stained honey locust, including sap wood.
It was suggested that I should add a finial... I did.
How do you like me NOW?
The box is 2 5//8 inches in diameter by 5 1/4 inches high. oil sanded and finished with burnished bee's wax.

Better. I'd try a collar around the base of the finial, and move the bead up a tad. I think the general "movement" with the addition of the finial, has been improved.

Thanks Jim,
I was actually thinking the opposite: I wanted the ball to look like it was just barely rising out of the cavity., kind of like it HAD been the base of the finial but was taking off for parts unknown.

I like it; it's simple and yet has strong curves in the shapes. The lid must be thin to require the through tenon joint. The finial really helps.
