Lidded Boxes

A couple of lidded boxes done in Cherry. Pyrographed and dyed.
Did you think about using different color wood such as Black Wood for the pieces on top and the bottoms?

Gary

Gary, Yes. Have done boxes with finials and bases in other species. The reason I didn't use any contrasting woods here was to keep the attention focus on the pyrographed designs rather than a contrast in colors at the base and finial. That thought also drove the simplistic designs of the bases and finials. Too much detail or eye catching there probably would only draw attention back and forth. You certainly could use any species you wish for contrast or attention.

Really nice boxes Kurt. As Peter mentioned the split lines are barely visible which is one of your "signatures". And also as usual the pyrography and coloring are impeccable.
