Segmented Natural Edge
Chris Ramsey

Segmented Natural Edge

Walnut and maple segmented, turned and carved 3 leg bowl with a walnut bark NE 16" W x 10" H. The bark was removed from another bowl that was turned with the same form/profile from green wood and placed over the segmented bowl. I traced the contact area of the bark on the segmented bowl then carved away the rim to fit the bark NE rim to the segmented bowl. CA glue was used to secure the NE to the bowl.
The combination of segmenting and the natural bark rim is a wild idea that you pulled off well Chris.....a unique and rare endeavor. I applaud your creativity!

Thanks for the comments. Roger, it was an idea I had thought about for a few years so I gave it a try--glad it worked out!
