Spalted Poplar bottle/vessel

Spalted Poplar bottle/vessel

Cylindrical bottle or vessel from spalted yellow poplar. The wood was salvaged from a blown down street tree in Orange, California. The spalting occurred by accident. The trunk section (sealed ends, of course) was stored vertically on my concrete garage floor.

This is the same piece shown in the tips section of the new American Woodturner: "Long Paws."
