Thermed Leg End Table

Thermed Leg End Table

This 20-inch-tall end table consists of thermed birch legs turned on a lathe and a natural edge slab of elm for the table top. The three birch legs were turned simultaneously on a therming rig, as shown in the first comment. Birch bark does not stand up well to turning so the bark was removed and then portions of the bark were re-applied as veneers to the front surface of each leg. The birch legs were given a light cherry stain for contrast with the bark and antiqued bronze bands were added at the top and bottom of each leg. Finish is Watco oil on the legs and table top surfaces.
Here's a better view of the grain patterns in the elm table top and a view of the legs mounted on the therming rig

Love everything about this, Brian. Design, materials, finish, etc. However, I think stability might be problem since the footprint appears to be very narrow. Just my 2¢.
