Magic Lantern

This 11-inch tall 'lantern' was made using a variety of techniques, including tapered segmented staves, laser cutting and embellishment. The round inserts were made from thin basswood with a laser cutter and were inserted into the alternating oak and mahogany staves. Textured black bands were added at the mid and upper sections of the lantern. The upper rim was turned from Cherry. A flickering electric candle resides inside the lantern using a threaded insert in the base. Finish is Watco oil.
