Pohutukawa bowl

Pohutakawa bowl
Part of the set I made for the Crawled out of the woodwork exhibition
A Platter .A Hollow form, A Bowl and a Box
5 inches high with 3 Pohutakawa flowers etched equally around the circumference.
I put the black line on the rim by holding a piece of Formica against the edge. This helps to highlight the inner bowl and draw the eye
Finish Lacquer
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pohutukawa
These are amazing trees in bloom .Some of the old man Pohutakawa really portray a strength and attitude.
Comments Always welcome
Thanks Norm
I just had an open day in my gallery on Saturday and this little beauty was one of the first to go
If you go to my web site www.timberly.co.nz there are some more shots of these Pohutukawa pieces
Cheers
