Yew Family Portrait

Few people like cutting sections out the side wall of their vases, however I had few options when the small yew vase started cracking a year later. It forced me to come up with something new. Now I make them all that way.
Pretty nice. If you sell them, less wood probably equals higher price to boot!!

Being able to check the uniformity of your wall thickness is an added bonus.

very nice, any tips on how to apply color to edge, are they turned green??

The green edging is two coats of water based green paint. Any overlap is sanded off. I had trouble with the paint sticking to a cocobolo vase due to the oil content. They are not turned green but could be.
The cutting out of the walls happens after there is any chance of correcting it. Its a true revelation at times.

Murray, these pieces are great!
