I'm on my 3rd one of that exact sharpener in just a few years. Don't expect much.
my favorite negative reviews on this were the ones complaining that it was too difficult to use. They had to mount it to a table because they couldn't use it handheld. Or the one that says it requires two people to use it. I really get lots of entertainment reading amazon reviewsThat one is available from Amazon, too. Can you update when you get it mounted? All the reviews say the mounting screws are too small/short. Hmmm, probably an easy fix for a woodworker!
I had the same Laguna as you and upgraded to the 3520c. I had no problems with the Laguna in the 2 1/2 years I had it, but I just outgrew it and had put a lot of hours on it. These two lathes aren't in the same category, I considered the Laguna a midi and the Powermatic a full sized lathe. First the Powermatic is more than double the weight of the Laguna and size. Second you are correct, fit and finish are better on the Powermatic. It handles drilling pepper mills very well but I do use a steady rest to help hold them perfectly on center when drilling. I called yesterday and they are shipping the control button cover.I went from a Laguna 15/24 lathe (sold) to this Powermatic 3520C .
One thing I was pleasantly surprised with was the quill on the tail stock is much more solid and precise ( no play side to side or up an down) on the powermatic.
My Laguna was loosely goosey and with out knowing any better I just accepted it, I am hoping my pepper mills will be much more accurate now with the drilling of the stock
Yay!! Hopefully you can take off your zip lock baggie now...I called yesterday and they are shipping the control button cover.
That x-acto model looks very similar to the vintage Boston sharpener that has been with me for almost 50 years now. That one is available from Amazon, too. Can you update when you get it mounted? They are. You probably have the right screws in your shop. You will need more to mount its replacement in a couple of years. Ask me how I know. That one is available from Amazon, too. How do you like it so far? I am in the market for a lathe , just haven't decided which oneFinal set up done.
Dust collection , Tool holders on headstock and tailstock ends, overhead lighting, etc. ...

I was using a Laguna Revo 15/24 for about 3 years before pulling the trigger on the 3520C Mustard Monster. How do you like it so far? I am in the market for a lathe , just haven't decided which one
Mine didn't have that cover either, someone here mentioned you could contact PM and they would send you one. I sent them an email and they sent the cover pretty quickly.Mine didn't come with the rubber switch cover. I have about 100 hours on my lathe and haven't had any problems yet with the switches but I vacuum the lathe off every day after use and make sure it vacuum the switches and vfd very well. I'm going to call and order the cover someday when I remember.
Oldie, the length of the machined surface on the bottom of my 3520c banjo is 18-3/4”. The height from the bed to the top of the banjo is 5-7/8” +/- 1/16”.Can anyone tell me if the 3520c banjo can be purchased separately? For those of you who have a 3520c lathe, can you tell me the overall length of the bottom machined surface?

I would think you could buy it separately but would probably have to call Powermatic.
Also I’m fairly certain Robust has the same locking mechanism on the banjo as Powermatic.
Oneway have nice banjos - I fitted one to my Jet 3520B and was very pleased with it.In my opinion, if you are good with a sliding headstock, and possibly cast-iron construction motivates you as well.......you might find similar lathes, but you won't find a better lathe than the 3520c.

I am thrilled with my new rotating headstock Vicmarc VL240 lathe, but the banjo sucks. I'm thinking the 3520c banjo might be a great replacement with its pinch style of securing the tool rest post.
