I agree with the late Bill Jones: these machines were meant to be used, not looked at. Scott, thank you for using yours to make such beautiful pieces.

The challenge is having a lathe that is complete enough to actually use. Fortunately, Malcolm Wild put this machine in good working order. I had to modify the overhead drive and pulleys so high speed cutting could take place. I added a 5 rpm gear motor with an electric clutch to drive the spindle. For many operations the spindle is driven with a gear on the slide rest interacting with the banjo and spindle mounted gears. In 2022 I have had 5 tutorial sessions with the folks at Plumier. They have been responsible for shortening the learning curve.
