New Beginnings I
This piece is one in my new series "Outside Looking In." This series features flamed boxelder, natural edges and surfaces, and gilded interior elements.
New Beginnings I stands 20" and features a box comprised of two halves of bleached, flamed boxelder each with my Double Natural style. I treated the flame with Transtint dye to preserve it.
The sphere is gilded with 23k gold leaf and has a waterbased clearcoat for protection.
The box opens and the sphere can be removed. I used cork dots on the interiors
The base is cherry which I treated with a steel wool and vinegar wash.
